Geneva-based independent watchmaker Laurent Ferrier has uncovered the Classic Micro-Rotor Di Rosa, an exquisite timepiece dedicated and crafted in collaboration with renowned French painter, Hervé Di Rosa.

Active in both French and international art scenes, Di Rosa is best known as one of the key figures in pioneering the Figuration Libre art movement in the ‘80s. Earlier in the month, the artist unveiled the Hervé Di Rosa – The Worlds-Passer retrospective exhibition at Centre Pompidou in Paris, celebrating his life’s works thus far. He’s also a longtime friend of the brand, marking this special wristwatch a celebratory release to friendship as well as a tribute to Di Rosa’s artistry, vision and influence.

The spotlighted feature of this time-teller is undoubtedly its gleefully bizarre dial. Drawing reference from an existing bas-relief, the watch face depicts a frenzy-filled scene starring a menacing 12-armed character. This design is adapted from “DIROSAPOCALYPSE,” a vibrant and chaotic painting that Di Rosa produced in 1984.

On the dial, the intense imagery is reimagined in monotone on an 18-carat white gold base. All details are hand-engraved to maximize visual and textural contrast that elevates the character from its tonal backdrop.

The timepiece is encased in a 41mm Classic silhouette with sapphire crystals fitted on both the watch face and caseback. Limited to a production of five examples only, the Classic Micro-Rotor Di Rosa has a price tag of 80,000 CHF (approximately $90,416 USD ) avaiable for inquiry through Laurent Ferrier.
