Ebay is continuing to expand its consignment service, which will now include fine jewelry, luxury watches and footwear. The service, already available for handbags and luxury apparel, allows casual sellers to access Ebay experts for help listing and selling their high-end products.

Since the launch of its consignment service, sellers are seeing stronger final sales prices than if they had listed the traditional way on Ebay. For example, a small, quilted Chanel 19 flap bag that was consigned via the new service in December 2023 exceeded the average sales price of all other bags of the same style sold on Ebay last year by more than 45%, the company shared.

Brands that are now eligible for consignment service within the jewelry, watch and luxury footwear categories include Golden Goose, Gucci, David Yurman, Chanel, Hearts on Fire, Tag Heuer, Hublot and more. To participate, users fill out a consignment intake form, after which the customer will be provided with a prepaid label for insured shipping. Ebay and its consignment partner, luxury goods seller Linda’s Stuff, then handle the item’s photography, pricing and listing. Once the item sells, the consignor will receive the proceeds from the sale, which is a percentage of the sale based on the item’s selling price.

Ebay’s consignment service is one of many ways the marketplace is working to help brands, sellers and buyers participate in circular fashion. Other programs include Certified by Brand, which enables brands to sell across all stages of the inventory lifecycle, and Authenticity Guarantee, which aims to foster more confidence in online resale by verifying the authenticity of high-value purchases.
