Theft of luxury watches has become such an immense menace across the globe that the owners of rare and expensive watches are now beginning to stop wearing their prized timepieces out in crowded places. Just about every day, we come across at least one incident of an uber-expensive being stolen. However, for a change, we stumbled upon news from Southeast Asia involving a highly desirable Rolex, which ended well for the owner. A Swiss tourist in Thailand got the biggest shock when he realized that he had forgotten his $80,000 Rolex Daytona in the toilet of a packed entertainment pub in Pattaya. We all know the odds of finding a lost Rolex in such a situation. But miraculously, the tourist was reunited with his yellow gold Rolex thanks to the 75-year-old cleaning lady at the pub who found the watch sitting on top of a sink in the toilet.

The incident occurred in one of Pattaya’s most popular party venues, according to a report by Wochenblitz. “It was a moment of shock when I realized that my watch was no longer on my wrist,” confessed the Swiss tourist, who remained anonymous. “But thanks to this woman’s incredible honesty, my loss became a true moment of happiness.”

The 75-year-old lady, who has been working at the bar for many years, described the moment when she stumbled upon the extremely valuable watch: “I saw the sparkling Rolex lying on the sink and knew immediately that someone had forgotten it. I was keen to return it.” Without any surprises, the tourist was overjoyed when his Rolex was returned to him. Apparently, he even gave the honest cleaning lady a generous reward as a token of gratitude.

Rolex Daytona Yellow Gold Green Dial

The timepiece the Swiss tourist almost lost is considered one of the most popular models by the legendary watch brand. The watch is crafted from solid 18k gold and paired with a deep “racing green” dial accented with 18k yellow gold hands and hour markers. Inside the case is the in-house Rolex caliber 4130 automatic chronograph movement that offers about 72 hours of power reserve.

The demand for this particular timepiece is so high that prices on the secondary market can easily surpass $80,000. The timepiece also has a year-long waiting list and is offered only to premium Rolex customers.
